What is Anchor Text

Anchor text is the text inside an HTML link which is displayed to the web user. Anchor text is usually underlined.

Anchor text is weighted very heavily in the current Google algorithm.

The net effect of this is that if many people link to a web page using a set of keywords as anchor text, that page will rank very highly for those keywords.

If you want your page to rank highly for a specific keyword combination, get people to link to you using those keywords as anchor text.
